Posted by Prom Hair Styles on July 25, 2009

Short hairstyles have been popular for women since the 1920’s. Louise Brooks’s bob hairstyle in 1917 became the most popular hairstyle of the 1920’s. An oval shaped face really suits any style of hair, while a heart shaped face my look fuller at the chin with a layered bob hairstyle that has ends that flick outward at the bottom. A square face can be softened with layers and soft curls and an off centered part can help break up the symmetry. A round face does well with a feathered cut and layers coming forward to help slim down a fuller looking face. Bangs help to disguise a long forehead on a long face while a chin length cut will help to add volume and fullness to help broaden the face.

The next consideration is the personality. A bold shape like a square-looking bob with short blunt fringe needs a strong personality. A side swept bang on a classic shag with flipped up ends looks great on a flirty feminine personality.

A General Review About Short Trendy Hairstyles

Posted by Prom Hair Styles on July 8, 2009

A short trendy hair style for the modern woman can make life a lot easier. There’s less time spent taking care of it – what could you do with that extra 15-25 minutes you’ll save not having to style and dry your long locks? Something short and ‘today’ can also boost your confidence and even make you look younger!

Sexy Long Prom Hair StylesHowever, it’s critical to match the short hairstyle to the shape of your face and to your personality and lifestyle. It’s important to have a balanced look between your upper body, face and hair.

Below are some short trendy hair styles that should get you some looks in 2007.

A Chopped up and brazenly messy do. Made popular in the 60’s – remember Twiggie? It can look simply amazing with the summer weather coming. Toss in some highlights, slick down the bangs or go with a bold color to add variety or make a statement.

This style will really show off your face so be sure you’re confident about your facial features and skin before going with this hairstyle. If your eyes are a central feature of your face, this style can really make them ‘pop’. You should also have delicate, “fine boned”, angular features to your face.

The predominate feature of this style are the close-cropped layers that frame your face. It’s also very short and close-cropped around your ears and back of the neck. Other features are a many short pieces that vary in length so there are many places on your hair that are even. Halle Berry has sported this hair style very successfully over the years. Sharon Stone too.

The new Bob has edgy styles and variations that men, women and children are choosing for this years cut. Salons are reporting it as the most asked for style and expect the trend to hold for quite some time.

This haircut could work on women aged 21 to easily 50. What makes a bob work well is soft, straight hair. The rest is a question of face structure. Women with longer faces should opt for bangs and a shorter cut, while those with round faces should have a Bob with side bangs that are cut away from the face.

Here are a few that should be fit, flirty and fabulous this year:

Inverted Bob
A great hairstyle if you have really fine hair. It’s one of the few trendy and most popular hairstyles that women with baby fine hair can wear and look great.

Go chic sophisticate to ultra funky with punches of colors, various layers, and creative highlights. There’s lots to choose from – the chic sleek pageboy image, asymmetrical, or going as bold as you dare – or something in between.

This bob can work with a wide range of hair textures. There are styles for curly, frizzy, straight, smooth, and wavy hair.

Short Bob
Best for oval or square faces. You can do many things with this hairstyle – cut some short, medium or long layers to spice it up. For a totally different trendy look, flip your under ends out. Don’t get carried away. Or get brave and add some color to throw in some contrast.

Or change the angles to give it a different look – go short on one side blended to longer on the other side. Use a longer version if your face is very round. Very straight hair suits this hair cut well.

The general rule is the longest pieces of hair should fall just above the chin to keep the face hugging effect.

Blunt Bob
This hair style can make fine hair look thicker. However, be prepared to do a lot of hair straightening and maintenance with this hair style. Unless you are willing to straighten your hair every day, this hairstyle can be a pain for natural curly hair.

Go with a blunt line and bangs above the brow. A more severe fringe gives this hairstyle its sharpness. But agin, if you have curly hair, you may want to go with one of the other hair styles.

Curly Bob
Great for those with a rounder face however Winona Ryder has made this style work for her with her square shaped face. Utilize layers to help detail your curls

Make sure the length is longer than the chin and a tad longer on the neck to keep the style well balance and looking good. If you have spiral curls, don’t go too short on this style. You may want to trim a few of the individual curls to keep the bulk down.

The bob is a timeless hairstyle. They are always “in” and seem to work well with natural curly hair.

Hair Extensions – The Modern Woman

Posted by Prom Hair Styles on July 7, 2009

Women who do not have the patience to grow out their hair can add length and volume by using a modern day practice called ‘hair extensions’. These are basically additional pieces which are applied to your own hair using one of many methods. They are perfect for adding length to short hair, adding volume, growing out layers, transforming a bad haircut and even adding highlights and lowlights without any chemical processing. There are a number of application methods used for hair extensions, such as bonded, braided, wefted, and micro rings. These are available in both real human and synthetic hair.

Modern Black Prom Hair StylesThe majority of hair extensions use real human strands, but the cheaper alternative is to use synthetic. Generally speaking if you are wanting to achieve a natural look then you should opt for 100% human hair. The syntehtic type are made from materials such as nylon, polyester, kankalon or modacrylic and do not respond well to heat or friction. Synthetic extensions are a cheap way for you to extend your existing hair, but there is little else you can do with them with regards to styling. Synthetic hair can usually only be shaped into styles by using the steam from boiling water to set the style.

Long hair is extremely popular with women all around the world no matter what origin they are from. The beauty of long hair has always been viewed as attractive and alluring. Information About Prom Hairstyling

Posted by Prom Hair Styles on July 5, 2009

Many girls focus solely on finding the one-of-a-kind dress, the perfect shoes to complement it, and even the perfect guy to go with. However, the little things do mean so much. Even the most beautiful, upscale dress can look absolutely dreadful when you’re sporting a bed head! You have spent so much time on your makeup and so much money on your dress and jewelry, don’t forget your hair. No matter what sort of hair you have, you’ll find a prom hairstyle that works for you! If you plan your hairstyle with a salon stylist before the day of the prom, you can rest assured knowing that your hair will be taken care of.

Prom Simple Hair StylesA walk through history is a superb way to locate great hairstyles. The care free and trendy style of modern short hairstyles comes from the bob style introduced in the 1920s. Alternatively, kick it up a notch. The fantastic and classic looks of the 1930 movie stars would make an excellent and unique prom hairstyle. By combining the look of a dress with a lower hem with hair styled in waves close to the face, you will create an elongated look overall. In order to use this style, your hair has to be at least chin length and parted on the side. If you have long hair, you can still use this hairstyle by doing a French braid at the level of your hairline with a side part; then curl the braids up into a low chignon. To create the waves, you’ll need to start with damp hair coated in jojoba-based “hot sauce” to protect the hair, then coax the waves into form using the diffuser of an FHI heat blow dryer and a small-barrel curling iron.

Maybe you’ve decided you want to be creative with a short, distinctive style. One option is twisting small sections, then bobby pinning it in place, or you could go a step further and spike it out. For slightly longer hair, you can try twisting it into miniature buns and spiking the ends for a truly unique look. A naturally wavy look can complement most face shapes and is rather easy to produce – wash with an intensive conditioner, blow dry it while using a diffuser, then work in a sculpting or styling paste to provide waves and volume. One product that makes this look a snap to finish is Redken’s Quick Dry Instant Finish. Leave a few hairs around your face, or pull your bangs off your forehead, or you might want to use a styling product to slick down your bangs. Short hair offers many styling options, including the retro pageboy style that is very popular right now, or even darkening and bleaching different sections for a wild look. A slightly lopsided bob cut is rather hot right now, and the super short Twiggy hair style has become popular for the prom this year, with several stars already sporting the look. Even mullets have made their way back into popular hairstyles, accentuated with asymmetrical cuts. Short hair is in vogue right now, along with natural-looking highlights and rich hair colors like copper or chocolate browns. If you want something different and want longer hair, you might use Unique VIP hair extensions that are actually made from human hair. Celebrities, like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson, use extensions on a regular basis and look great in them!

If you want a medium-length hairstyle, the low chignon works perfect for any type of hair and has a looks fantastic. You can find these formal hairstyles at red carpet events, weddings, and in movies. To accomplish this look, you have to gather your hair into a low ponytail. For an even more alluring look, have the ponytail tied slightly off center, just below your ear. Now, take your the ponytail and wrap it in a circle around itself and secure the style with your favorite brand of bobby pins. Don’t be afraid to let a few tendrils of hair hang loose, as a bit of messiness can make it look even better. A shine enhancing hairspray will provide the finishing touches for this look, as well as provide adequate hold. Many girls count on a professional for this, which is probably a wise idea. This timeless fashion has been worn by both Katherine Heigl and Jessica Simpson. Flowers, braids, and clips are some options that can be added to a medium length hairstyle for an extra special look. If you absolutely love long hair styles, but your hair hasn’t grown out enough, you could try getting extensions.

The decision can be even tougher if you have long hair because there are so many choices. Two popular styles right now are soft, natural looking waves for long hair left down, and curly updos. Some of the most popular celebrity hair styles include those of Angelina Jolie, Eva Longoria, Nicole Kidman, Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson. Curls that are soft and sensual will look fabulous in updos or hair that is down. You can choose to tease out your hair to a tremendous height and volume for a rock star look. Go with a braid or a classy chignon. Some really well known and gorgeous celebrities have used a straight and sleek look. If you want a big change on prom night, you can change the length of your hair or get highlights.

Here are some tips about prom hairstyles: Number one, don’t wait until the last minute! Salon appoints are quickly booked during prom season. You don’t want to end up with an emergency on the day of the prom as you try to twist, spray, blow and curl your own hair, only to wind up with a big mess! If you don’t plan ahead, you may not be able to get a stylist to help, so make sure to contact your favorite hairdresser and discuss different ideas ahead of time. Do your homework. Keep an eye on celebrity hair styles, watch for styles that will work with your look, and try them out for yourself using an online virtual hairstyling application. Remember to clip magazine photos of styles you’d like to try, which will help the stylist get an idea of exactly what you want done, no matter what you would like to have done to your hair.

Popular Short Trendy Hairstyle

Posted by Prom Hair Styles on July 4, 2009

A woman’s hair is one of the most forgiving characteristics about herself; it is one that she can easily change and redefine to invent new looks for herself and to keep reinventing new looks with time. And this is one of the few things that she can change about her own physical appearance that doesn’t take more than a few minutes to accomplish and doesn’t cost much money. In addition, the changes that a woman makes to her hair are never permanent, so even if she does not like the finished look, haircuts can always grow out and hairstyles can always be re-done. The short haircut is a very chic look that has become very fashionable among the teenagers and even older and more mature women. Some of the popular and fashionable hairstyles for short hair will be discussed herein.

Long Funky Prom Hair StylesOne of the most popular short haircuts among teenagers and young women is the layered haircut. More and more of the younger women and teenagers alike are choosing the layered haircut over any other because it is most easy to maintain. In addition, the layered haircut is one that can be easily worn the same way for a formal event as for a casual event without being out of place – the short layered haircut can in fact be either flipped out or flipped inwards. Either effect has the same though – they are both chic and fashionable and can be adjusted to suit any event. The layered hair flipped inwards creates a more sophisticated look that some of the more mature women would prefer, whereas the flipped out hairstyle for those with short layers creates a trendy and hip look.

Another of the favorite hairstyles worn by young women and teenagers with short hair would be the bobbed haircut. This haircut can be worn with layers, bangs or highlights to create the soft but feminine touch to what would otherwise be a severe look. The bob can also be cut asymmetrical to create a hairstyle that is funky but nonetheless feminine. Another alteration of the bob haircut with a soft feminine approach is the A-line bob hairstyle; flipped inwards to create a sophisticated look with a futuristic appeal.

The mature woman however will neither go for the flipped out short hairstyle nor the A-line bobbed hairstyle. Instead she looks for a hairstyle for her hair that is conservative but not severe; trendy but not flamboyant; manageable but not plain. The short bob with a high crown and low side is ideal for the mature woman with the long thin face. This hairstyle however is softened by a side path and a simple bang that just teases over the forehead or at the side of the face. Highlights and side burns are other creative modifications that the mature woman could choose to incorporate into her short hairstyle.
